Lagos Police Uncover Fake Drink Factory, Arrest Suspects

In a significant operation, officers from the Ojo Division apprehended Imo Lawrence, 35, and Magnus Nwonka, 42, for possessing counterfeit beverages, as confirmed by police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin on Wednesday.

During the investigation, the suspects guided detectives to their discreet, multi-room ‘factory,’ marking a crucial breakthrough in the case, with ongoing inquiries.

This development follows closely on the heels of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) uncovering fake wine factories in Abia State. NAFDAC officials seized a variety of products, including wines, soft drinks, and beverages, valued at over N750,000,000, from Eziukwu Market, Aba.

The revelation sparked widespread concern on social media, highlighting the growing prevalence of counterfeit consumer goods in the nation’s markets and stores.
