Katsina police apprehend five individuals for unlawfully possessing a firearm

Katsina State Police Command has reported the arrest of five individuals in Kurmi village, Bakori Local Government Area, for possessing illegal AK-47 rifles.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesman, the arrests were made on December 19, 2023, based on credible intelligence.

Operatives from Bakori Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with vigilante members, successfully apprehended the suspects identified as Sharhabilu Dahiru (20), Abubakar Tukur (25), Kasamanu Abdullahi (20), Abdulrahman Shu’aibu (20), and Sulaiman Sanusi (20), all residents of Kakumi village, Bakori LGA.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the AK-47 rifle from the residence of Jamilu Lawal in the same village. Lawal was subsequently invited for further investigation regarding the illegal possession of the firearm. The police spokesman emphasized the seriousness of the crime, stating that all suspects are currently in custody as the investigation progresses.
