A senior lecturer at the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, faced public humiliation on Friday after being stripped by female students accusing him of sexual harassment, as reported by The Nation. The lecturer, whose full identity remains undisclosed, incurred the wrath of female undergraduates from the English Department, where he teaches after allegations surfaced regarding his inappropriate behavior towards a female student.
Demanding justice for what they deemed intolerable misconduct, the female students insisted on publicly shaming the lecturer, asserting that “his actions have caught up with him.” Consequently, the lecturer was stripped down to his boxers, a scene halted by the intervention of the school’s security personnel stationed at the Adankolo mini campus.
During the subsequent interrogation, the lecturer reportedly implicated his colleagues, alleging that they provided him with names of students to manipulate grades based on their relationships with female students. The university’s spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Iyke, confirmed the incident and assured that an internal investigation was underway. However, further details regarding the outcome of the investigation or any disciplinary measures remained pending, with Iyke stating that the university’s management was committed to addressing the issue through its internal processes. Despite attempts to reach the alleged victim and her father, who is reportedly a serving policeman, they were shielded from engaging with reporters, leaving additional inquiries unanswered.
