Gunmen Strike Plateau Community, Claiming Four Lives

In a horrifying incident that shook Gudum Village in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, assailants launched a deadly attack on Sunday night, claiming the lives of four individuals.

The primary target of the assailants was identified as the ward head of the village, whose residence was set ablaze during the heinous assault.

According to eyewitness accounts from residents of Gudum Village, the attackers stormed the village on Sunday night, targeting the home of the ward head.

In a sinister turn of events, the assailants set the residence ablaze and held the ward head’s wife and children hostage. Fortunately, the ward head managed to escape from the scene, prompting a distress call from the village.

The timely intervention of personnel from Operation Safe Haven, responding to the distress call, proved crucial in curbing further bloodshed.

The attackers, facing the imminent arrival of security forces, fled the scene after claiming the lives of four individuals, all of them males.

Expressing his outrage and condemnation, Governor Caleb Mutfwang issued a statement through Gyang Ber, the Director of Press and Public Affairs. Governor Mutfwang strongly denounced the attack, terming it barbaric and unacceptable.

He directed security agencies to spare no effort in apprehending the perpetrators, ensuring that they face the full wrath of the law.

Governor Mutfwang extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families affected by the tragedy. Describing the attack as a gross violation of humanity, he emphasized the horror of women and children being trapped inside two rooms during the assault.

Fortunately, swift action by security personnel led to the rescue of these innocent lives.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this brutal incident, the call for justice echoes through Plateau State.

The resolve of the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice remains steadfast, as the state mourns the loss of four lives in the wake of this senseless act of violence.
