Anxiety rises as unidentified bandits allegedly abduct a nursing mother along with her three children in Abuja.

In the Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate along Arab Road in the Federal Capital Territory, anxiety surged as bandits abducted a nursing mother and her three children, including a six-month-old baby. The heavily armed assailants invaded the area between 8 pm and 9 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023, firing shots indiscriminately, prompting residents to flee for safety.

A resident who spoke to The PUNCH expressed dismay over the escalating kidnappings, noting that it has become a recurring issue every December. Another resident attributed the rise in abductions to inadequate security in the area, citing the recent incident where a whole family, including a six-month-old baby, was kidnapped in Zone 5, Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation estate.

While the FCT Police Command has yet to provide an official statement on the situation, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, assured that she would investigate the incident and provide updates.

In a separate incident in Enugu state, the Police announced plans to arraign a man, Mr. Somadina Orji, who allegedly killed and buried his mother, Charity, and sister, Ukamaka, in shallow graves in Umuagu Inyi, Oji River Local Government area. The suspect, reported to be a drug dealer, had longstanding issues with his mother before deciding to kill her.

The community leader in Inyi, Mr. Ben Obi, revealed the tragic events that unfolded, emphasizing the absence of governing bodies in the community, contributing to incidents like drug abuse and violence. He urged government intervention to prevent such tragedies in the future.
