Vigilante Killed, 9-Year-Old Boy and 11 Others Kidnapped in Brazen Attack near ACO Estate, Abuja

In a harrowing incident that unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, a vigilante lost his life while a 9-year-old boy and 11 others were abducted in a daring attack on Gbaupe village, located behind ACO Estate along Airport Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Local sources reported that the assailants, numbering approximately 15, struck between 12:15 am and 2:46 am, utilizing superior firepower that overwhelmed the efforts of vigilant community members who attempted to resist the kidnappers.

Tragically, one vigilante paid the ultimate price, losing his life in the confrontation. Despite the valiant efforts of the local vigilantes, the kidnappers managed to abduct 12 people, including three young individuals and women.

Fortunately, two of the victims reportedly escaped as they were being led into the bush behind the village.

A resident, speaking to Vanguard, shared details of the horrifying incident, stating that the kidnappers are yet to make contact with the families of the victims. The identity and motives of the kidnappers remain unknown at this time.

Meanwhile, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, responded to the incident by assuring the public of the police force’s commitment to fortifying security measures, especially in the face of the upcoming yuletide season.

Adeh stated, “In response to concern over kidnapping incidents in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command, while declaring an unwavering commitment to fortifying security measures, have deployed rigorous strategies to prevent any attempts at kidnapping before, during, and after the yuletide seasons.”
