Police address clash between vigilante and Fulani community in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has responded to an incident involving a confrontation between a group of Fulani youths and a vigilante group in Yaba, Abaji Area Council of the territory.

Reports indicate that the clash, which transpired on Saturday, resulted in the unfortunate death of one vigilante member, with approximately six others sustaining various injuries.

In response to the incident, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on Sunday contradicting the casualty figures, asserting that only three individuals were injured during the confrontation.

A statement from Adeh explained, “Upon receiving the report of a clash involving a vigilante group and the Fulanis, the DPO Yaba swiftly mobilized to the scene.

Three vigilante members with varying degrees of machete-inflicted injuries were rescued and promptly transported to Abaji General Hospital.”

Preliminary investigations into the incident suggest that the clash originated from the unlawful impoundment of motorcycles belonging to the Fulani group.

Adeh emphasized that the situation has been brought under control, and normalcy has been restored. The incident remains under investigation by the Yaba Division of the FCT Police Command.
