Benue: Governor Alia holds a private discussion with the Chief of Defence Staff

In a closed-door session today, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State met with Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa at the Defence Headquarters.

The governor, accompanied by state government officials, arrived at the meeting around 1:19 pm on Tuesday. The gathering is believed to be linked to the ongoing security challenges facing Benue State.

Benue State has witnessed a significant security crisis, resulting in the displacement of over two million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are currently residing in various camps across the state.

These displacements are primarily attributed to attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Additionally, the state has recently experienced a surge in robbery incidents, leading to the tragic loss of lives as unsuspecting citizens fell victim to gunmen.

The closed-door meeting between Governor Alia and General Musa is expected to address the prevailing security issues and explore strategies to mitigate the challenges faced by the state.

The governor’s engagement with the Chief of Defence Staff underscores the gravity of the security situation in Benue State, prompting collaborative efforts to find effective solutions.
