Ekiti state monarchs are taking a firm stand against the escalating threat of kidnappings in their region, warning perpetrators that they will resort to invoking traditional methods, including the intervention of Yoruba deities, to combat the menace. This declaration comes in response to a surge in criminal activities, with hoodlums shifting their operations from the North-West to the South-West, particularly impacting communities in Ekiti state.
The gravity of the situation was tragically underscored on Monday when two Ekiti monarchs, the Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, fell victim to the violence, while the Alara of Ara Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, narrowly escaped. The monarchs were ambushed by kidnappers while returning from a function in Kogi State, highlighting the brazenness of these criminals who operated along the highway between Ipao and Oke Ako in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
