Several schools in Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East, and Oyo West local government areas of Oyo State, which had remained closed for a decade due to a land dispute, have recently been reopened by the state government. This development was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in a statement released on Thursday. The decision to reopen these educational institutions came after a resolution was reached regarding the boundary dispute between the communities involved.
Oyelade explained that the resolution of this long-standing conflict occurred during a stakeholders meeting held at the Western Hall in Ibadan. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, who also serves as the Chairman of the state’s Boundary Dispute committee.
