Following a fatal attack on a 200-level Computer Science student near the Plateau State University, Bokkos, the institution has decided to halt all academic activities for 10 days.
The Registrar, Yakubu Ayuba, announced the closure in response to the tragic incident that occurred within the university’s vicinity, causing profound psychological distress among students and staff. The suspension aims to mitigate risks to the university community and allow for an improvement in security conditions.
Consequently, ongoing first-semester examinations have been postponed and are set to resume on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Additionally, the university management has arranged transportation for students who may need to leave the campus and travel to Barkin Ladi.
The decision follows a series of attacks in nearby communities, including Mangu and Bokkos, where 15 individuals lost their lives in a similar incident earlier in the week.
