Decision Regarding Sachet Alcohol Ban In response to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control’s assertion that the recent ban on sachet alcoholic beverages was a joint decision, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has presented a contrasting viewpoint.
At a press briefing in Lagos on Friday, MAN’s Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, emphasized that members of the Distillers and Blenders Association of Nigeria, a subset within MAN, had consistently expressed concerns regarding the impending ban.
Contrary to NAFDAC’s statement released on Thursday, which affirmed the ban as a unified resolution, MAN stands firm in its disagreement.
NAFDAC’s Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye, defended the ban as a collective recommendation from a committee comprising representatives from the Federal Ministry of Health, NAFDAC, and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
