Kaduna State Police Command personnel apprehended eight individuals involved in kidnapping in the Maigana General Area situated within the Soba Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was confirmed through a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, on Thursday in Kaduna.

As disclosed by the police spokesperson, these suspects have been linked to various kidnappings and related criminal activities in the region over recent times.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Bello Suleiman (20), Ismail Abubakar (20), Usman Suleiman (20), Umar Gero (19), and Isah Lawal (20), all hailing from Farin Kasa village in Soba LGA.

Additionally, among those apprehended, there are Abubakar Bello, aged 27, from Sakaru village in Soba Local Government Area, and Ibrahim Mu’azu, aged 20, from Bagaldi village in Soba.

The police spokesperson mentioned, however, that the leader of the gang is currently evading capture. Nevertheless, law enforcement operatives from the command are actively pursuing the fugitive ring leader.

Furthermore, he relayed a statement from the Commissioner of Police for the state, Musa Garba, who urged the officers and personnel of the command to proactively confront the criminal elements causing fear among the state’s residents, especially with the Christmas season approaching.

The Commissioner emphasized the need for a robust offensive strategy to ensure the safety and security of the populace during this festive period.

The police chief stated, “As part of a renewed effort to ensure the safety of lives and property in Kaduna State, particularly during the upcoming festive season, and in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Musa Yusuf Garba, instructing Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to take offensive measures, Police Operatives from the Maigana Divisional Headquarters have successfully apprehended eight individuals suspected of engaging in kidnapping and armed robbery.

This proactive action is aimed at enhancing security across the state.”

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the aforementioned individuals were involved in the kidnapping of Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai on August 25, 2023, and Adamu Mu’azu, a resident of Bagaldi village, was also a victim of their criminal activities in recent times.

The alleged leader of their gang, known by the alias Hanazuwa, from Farin Kasa village, is currently evading capture, though efforts are underway to track him down. All the suspects will be brought before the court once the investigation is concluded.”

The statement further stated, “Commissioner of Police for the Kaduna State Command, CP Musa Garba, commended the operatives for their successful operation and urged them to exercise even greater caution during this festive season.

He also called on the public to remain vigilant, as criminal elements are actively seeking opportunities to exploit the festive period’s increased activities.”
