Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, expressed dismay over the inadequate funding of Nigerian universities during her address as the guest speaker at the third edition of the Topaz Lecture, hosted by the UNILAG Mass Communication Class of 1988.
The virtual lecture, titled ‘Funding Tertiary Education: Challenges and Options,’ was conducted via Zoom. Ogunsola noted that the general increase in school fees across numerous universities in 2023 was not correlated with the removal of fuel subsidies by the administration led by President Bola Tinubu.
