President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2024 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday. Dr. Ali Barde Umoru, the Secretary of Research and Information at the National Assembly, confirmed this information on Monday while speaking to journalists. He also requested a list of individuals authorized to enter the chamber during the presentation.
Three weeks ago, in anticipation of the budget presentation, Tinubu submitted the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to both chambers of the National Assembly.
The proposed total expenditure for the 2024 fiscal year was outlined at N26.1 trillion. The President’s proposals, including the N26.1 trillion budget and other parameters, received approval from the National Assembly. This approval encompassed new borrowings amounting to N7.8 trillion, set the benchmark oil price at $73.96 for 2024, and established the daily oil production volume at 1.78 million barrels.
