The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL) reported 214 incidents of oil theft in the past week. During a video documentary released on Tuesday, the company revealed the discovery of 72 illegal refineries in the oil-rich Niger Delta region between January 13 and 19, 2024.
These illegal refineries were found in various locations, particularly in Rivers, Bayelsa, and Abia States. One notable instance involved the destruction of an illegal refinery in Ogubolo, Rivers.
