The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has taken action against noise pollution, temporarily closing down five churches and 19 hotels from March 23 to April 26. Additionally, four markets and shopping complexes were shut down due to noise pollution and other environmental infractions. Among the affected establishments are St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and several unnamed hotels.
According to calculations by a correspondent, the closures also impacted locations such as Ifako-Ijaiye, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu. Among the sealed establishments are Seventh Heaven Bar and Lounge, 1602 Hotel, Lourita Hotel and Suites, White Pavilion Hotel, and several others. This decisive enforcement operation aims to compel compliance with environmental regulations and underscores the significance of businesses adhering to environmental standards.
State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared details of the closures on his social media account, emphasizing the importance of addressing noise pollution and other environmental breaches. LASEPA’s comprehensive enforcement operation underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a sustainable and healthy environment for all residents of Lagos State.
