Scores of individuals suspected to be bandits were feared dead in a clash with soldiers on Saturday in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The confrontation occurred as the hoodlums, reportedly en route to assault a village following the relaxation of a 24-hour curfew, encountered military forces along the Gindiri Road around 7:30 am. The skirmish resulted in multiple casualties among the bandits.
Marcus Artu, Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area, confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online in Jos, the state capital, on Saturday. However, he was unable to provide specific figures regarding the casualties. According to Artu, the attackers, in large numbers, attempted to strike the area but were repelled by the swift response of the soldiers.
