The Executive Chamber of the governor’s office at Agodi Secretariat Ibadan is currently hosting a meeting where Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, is welcoming four other Southwest governors.

Among them are Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke; Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; and Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji. The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is expected to join the gathering. The purpose of this assembly is to extend condolences in light of the passing of the former governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

At the Oyo governor’s office, the governors from the southwest region have come together to offer their collective condolences to the family of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. This visit extends beyond the official meeting venue to a more personal setting, as the governors express their sympathy during a visit to the deceased governor’s residence in the Jericho area of Ibadan.

On a separate occasion, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. This visit took place at the Ibadan residence of Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the late governor’s wife.

Accompanied by his wife and son, Senator Ibrahim sought to offer solace to the grieving family, expressing confidence in the late governor’s assured place in heaven. He emphasized that the genuine sorrow in death often stems from uncertainty about one’s eternal destiny.

Senator Ibrahim praised Akeredolu’s impactful life and deeds, citing his people-oriented programs as governor of Ondo State and his advocacy for true federalism as a Senior Advocate. He concluded by stating that Akeredolu’s legacy will be dearly missed for a long time to come.
