The Zoological Garden at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, suffered a tragic loss as Mr. Olabode Olawuyi, the veterinary technologist overseeing its operations, was fatally attacked by a lion on campus.
According to a statement from the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, the incident occurred during Olawuyi’s routine feeding of the animals in their enclosure within the garden.
Despite efforts by other staff members present to intervene and save Olawuyi, the lion’s assault inflicted severe injuries, resulting in his tragic demise.
