Governor Abba Yusuf brings tears of happiness as he successfully reunites parents with their kidnapped children in Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, successfully reunited seven children abducted from Bauchi state with their parents on Friday. The Kano Police had earlier dismantled an inter-state child abduction and trafficking syndicate, arresting nine suspects after months of tracking across seven states. The investigation was initiated by the Kano State Police Command in response to reports of missing children.

The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, informed the media in Kano that the syndicate, operational for over a decade, specialized in inter-state trafficking, abduction, and the buying and selling of children. Diligent investigation efforts led to the dismantling of the syndicate, with members located in Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra, and Imo states.

A statement from the Spokesperson to the Governor of Kano, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, expressed the governor’s dismay over the abduction of seven children from Bauchi. The children were trafficked and sold in Anambra and Lagos states by a criminal syndicate specializing in the abduction, trafficking, and sale of children from Northern States. The governor commended the Kano State Police Command for their efforts and urged parents to remain vigilant.

Governor Abba Yusuf called on the Bauchi State Governor to take decisive legal action against the arrested suspects. He recalled a similar case a few years ago involving 11 Kano children reportedly abducted and sold in Anambra. The governor emphasized the fundamental responsibility of parents to be attentive to the well-being of their children.

Malam Saad from Bauchi, a parent of one of the stolen children, Abdulmutallif Saad, expressed gratitude to the Governor and the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, for their efforts in rescuing the children. Nine suspects, apprehended by the Kano State Police Command, were brought alongside the stolen children at Mariri motor park in Kano en route to Lagos. Barrister Sha’awanatu Yusuf, representing the Bauchi state government, emphasized the unity of Kano and Bauchi for the greater good.
