Abiodun pays a visit to the residence of the deceased director and promises assistance
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has reassured the family of the late Director of Finance and Administration in the Governor’s Office, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, as well as the citizens of the state, that the individuals responsible for the killing will be apprehended and brought to justice.
In a gesture of respect for the deceased, the governor has announced a one-week mourning period and ordered that flags be flown at half-mast throughout the state.
Abiodun, during his condolence visit to the late director’s residence on Thursday, also pledged that his administration would assume complete responsibility for the welfare and support of Mr. Oyekanmi’s family.
Oyekanmi was assaulted and killed on Wednesday in the Abeokuta metropolis while carrying out an official duty.
Expressing deep emotions, Governor Abiodun characterized the late individual as a dedicated, industrious, truthful, and religious person.
He expressed that the Governor’s Office and the entire state workforce have been profoundly affected by the tragic event, ensuring that every effort will be made to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“It is unfathomable that just yesterday morning, we could not have foreseen being here this morning, offering condolences to this family. We all carry a heavy burden, experiencing indescribable pain. Since yesterday afternoon, he left us with lingering questions.”
Speaking on behalf of the late director’s family, his younger brother, Tayo Oyekanmi, expressed gratitude to the governor for the visit. He acknowledged that destiny had been disrupted, and dreams abruptly ended, affecting not only the family but also the entire Ifonyintedo community in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
Tayo appealed to the governor to swiftly uncover the individuals responsible for the killing to alleviate the anguish experienced by the family.
