The Senate has given the police 24 hours to compel the CAC Boss’s appearance

In a decisive move, the Senate has instructed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the presence of the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, before the Senate Committee on Finance within the next 24 hours.

During a budget defense session on Wednesday, Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, invoked section 89, subsection 2, citing discrepancies in revenue generation and expenditure by the Corporate Affairs Commission. The committee had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with the commission’s performance during the MTEF/FP defense.

Despite previous summons, Senator Musa revealed that the Registrar-General had ignored the committee’s calls for the third time, deeming it disrespectful. He remarked, “You have your bookkeepers; you have your records, and we asked you to go and tidy up and report back, but you never did.”

In response, the committee unanimously resolved that the Inspector General of Police must ensure the Registrar-General’s presence before the finance committee on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of compliance with legislative summonses.
