4,556 Corps Members Sworn in During Ceremony in Abuja

During the 2024 Batch A Stream 2 orientation course in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) administered the oath of allegiance to 4,556 corps members. The ceremony, held at the permanent orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja, featured the Honourable Chief Justice of the FCT, Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf, who was represented by Justice Yusuf Halilu, presiding over the oath-taking.

Addressing the newly sworn-in corps members, NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, emphasized the importance of upholding values of national unity and development while discouraging negative behaviors such as drug abuse and anti-social activities. Shokpeka urged the corps members to adhere to camp regulations and obtain official permission before leaving the FCT, highlighting the significance of maintaining discipline throughout their service year.

Furthermore, Shokpeka highlighted the regimented nature of the orientation course, focusing on instilling discipline, physical fitness, leadership skills, and entrepreneurship through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programs. She expressed gratitude to the Federal Capital Territory Administration for their unwavering support in providing the necessary resources for hosting the orientation course, underscoring the collaborative effort in facilitating the NYSC mission within the FCT.
