The Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has taken part in the nationwide demonstration against the economic challenges stemming from the removal of fuel subsidy.
On Tuesday, demonstrators flooded the streets and proceeded to the office of the State’s Head of Service, Barrister Ahmed Liman.
Addressing the gathered protesters at Liman’s office, the chairman of the state chapter of the NLC, Sani Haliru, emphasized that the protest represented not only the workers’ grievances but also those of the entire nation.
Haliru expressed deep concern over the escalating levels of hunger, suffering, and hardship, stating that the labor force had been left with no choice but to take to the streets.
Despite several meetings between the Labour and the federal government, Haliru lamented the lack of tangible outcomes from these discussions.
