The House of Representatives has urgently called on the Federal Government to investigate and contain an unidentified disease causing fatalities in Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe State, Nigeria. They have urged the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to deploy personnel promptly for verification and requested the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention to implement surveillance measures to halt the disease’s spread.
The motion, brought forward by Aboullahi El-Rasheed, member of Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency, highlighted the alarming rise in deaths among youths and children in affected communities, prompting fears and concern. El-Rasheed lamented the outbreak’s rapid escalation and emphasized the urgent need for intervention to prevent further loss of life and contain the spread.
The resolution underscores the gravity of the situation and underscores the importance of swift action by relevant authorities to address the growing public health crisis in Gombe State.
