Online reactions are pouring in as Toke Makinwa, a popular OAP and fashion icon, becomes part of the delegates sponsored by President Tinubu to attend COP28 in Dubai from Nigeria. Toke Makinwa, who recently celebrated her lavish 39th birthday with notable figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry, is raising eyebrows for her presence at COP28, where world leaders and climate activists are gathered.
COP28, also known as the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, is hosted by the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and aims to build on past successes while paving the way for future efforts to effectively address the global challenge of climate change.
The summit is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 12, and it’s noteworthy that Nigeria is one of the countries that originally signed the UN climate agreement in 1992.
Toke Makinwa took to her verified Instagram page on December 2, 2023, sharing a video of her attendance at COP28. She assured her fans and followers that she would provide updates as events unfold. In the video’s caption, she wrote, “Are you guys feeling this voice over videos??? Day 1 at #Cop28 TMXDxB.”
As expected, the video of Toke Makinwa stirred reactions online, while some questioned her presence at the COP28 as they expected the government to select another person with more knowledge of climate, others drummed support for Toke for attending such a meeting that matters to the nation.
