PDP Ward in Rivers Suspends Representative Allied with Fubara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ngor, Ward 1, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State has decided to suspend Awaji-Inombek Abiante, the representative for Andoni/Opobo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The announcement came following a meeting of PDP leaders and stakeholders held at the party’s office in Ngor town on Monday evening.

Abiante, who aligns with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is among the federal lawmakers supporting Fubara’s administration. The resolution to suspend Abiante was unanimously adopted by party leaders and stakeholders in the Ward and was signed by the PDP CTC Ward Chairman in Andoni LGA, Dike Bara, CTC Ward Secretary, Dokubo Jackson, and 12 other executives.

The decision to suspend Abiante was prompted by allegations of his involvement in creating factions within the party, his unauthorized publicizing of disputes within the party, and his establishment of a parallel party organ at the Ward level, among other accusations. The party cited violations of the party’s constitution, specifically section 58, sub-section 1j, as grounds for the suspension.

In their resolution, the PDP Ward emphasized their commitment to upholding party integrity and eliminating individuals engaging in activities detrimental to the party’s cohesion. Abiante had previously led a protest against the presidential agreement during political unrest in Rivers State in December of the preceding year.
