PDP Sets N3.5m Fee for Senate By-Election Nomination

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its plans for the upcoming by-elections on February 3, 2024. The by-elections will fill the vacant seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assemblies across nine states.

According to the timetable signed by the PDP National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, the party will start selling forms for nominations, expressions of interest, and delegates on December 28, 2023.

The deadline for buying the forms is January 3, 2024. The primary elections will take place on January 9, 2024.

The PDP has set the prices for the forms as follows: N3.5m for the Senate, N2.5m for the House of Representatives, and N600,000 for the House of Assembly.

However, the party has offered some concessions for female candidates, persons living with disabilities, and youths below 40 years. They will only pay for the nomination forms, and the youths will get a 50% discount on them.

The by-elections are necessitated by the resignation or death of some members of the National and State Houses of Assembly. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the vacancies are in two Senatorial Districts, four Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies.
