In the New York civil fraud case involving Donald Trump, Judge Arthur Engoron denied Trump’s request to speak during Thursday’s closing arguments. Trump’s lawyers rejected the judge’s conditions, including restrictions on testifying, delivering a campaign speech, or impugning court employees.
State Attorney General Letitia James’ office objected, stating that allowing Trump to participate would effectively grant him an opportunity to testify without being subject to cross-examination.
