Nigerian Labour Congress Refutes False Nationwide Strike Claims

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has categorically dismissed recent reports circulating on social media that suggest an imminent nationwide strike set to begin on Monday, December 18.

In a statement released on Sunday and provided to DAILY POST, Beson Upah, the NLC’s Head of Information and Public Affairs, declared the information on social media to be fraudulent.

He urged the public to disregard the misleading notice, emphasizing that there were no plans to initiate any form of strike action.

The statement read, “We have become aware of a notice of a strike action (allegedly signed by the General Secretary of NLC and Secretary General of TUC, Comrades Emmanuel Ugboaja and Nuhu Toro, respectively) scheduled to commence tomorrow, Monday, December 18, across the country.

“We want to reassure Nigerians that this notice did not originate from us, and we have no intention of instigating any strike action during this period.

“Consequently, concerned Nigerians are advised to dismiss this notice as it is false.”
