Nasarawa LG Chairman, One Other Kidnapped
Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped Safiyanu Andaha, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.
The abduction took place on Monday night at Ningo village along Andaha-Akwanga Road, where Andaha was seized alongside a local resident named Adamu Custom at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The disclosure of this unfortunate incident came from Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, during a briefing with journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
Kassimu provided details, stating, “The Chairman, Safiyanu, was abducted at Ningo village on the Akwanga-Andaha Road in the Akwanga Local Government Area of the state along with one Alhaji Adamu Custom at about 8:30 p.m. on January 1, 2024.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, when contacted, confirmed the incident. He assured that security personnel, including the police and other agencies, are actively pursuing the abductors to secure the prompt release of the victims.
The situation underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts to address the security challenges in the region.
