NANS President in Benin Republic seeks reporter’s arrest over certificate forgery

Ugochukwu Favour, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students in Benin Republic, has strongly called for the apprehension of Umar Audu, the undercover reporter responsible for uncovering corruption in the certification process within the country.

Favour expressed his disapproval during an interview on the Channels TV program Sunrise Daily, where he criticized the reporter for obtaining certificates and having his passport stamped without physically being present.

Favour raised concerns about the reporter’s actions, pointing out that Audu’s passport was stamped despite his absence during the process. Additionally, Favour highlighted the peculiar situation where the reporter claimed to have served in 2019 and then again in 2023.

He argued that such actions were detrimental to the government’s reputation and questioned the credibility of institutions like the Immigration and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to Favour, the undercover reporter’s actions were not merely an attempt to shed light on certain issues but were perceived as an attempt to implicate the government, NYSC, and immigration authorities.

Insisting on the need for Audu’s arrest, Favour stressed the potential consequences of such investigations on various institutions.

When asked about the possibility of the reporter’s efforts revealing loopholes that needed addressing, the NANS president acknowledged the importance of addressing any identified issues.

However, he urged the government to promptly investigate the matter and take necessary actions to rectify the situation.

In summary, Ugochukwu Favour condemned the undercover reporter’s methods and called for his arrest, emphasizing the potential negative impact on government entities and institutions.

While acknowledging the importance of addressing any uncovered irregularities, Favour urged swift government intervention to remedy the situation.
