Media and Publicity (2015-2023),’ former Presidential aide Femi Adesina addresses and dismisses the notion of former President Muhammadu Buhari being a bigot. Adesina highlights a noteworthy incident in 2019 when, despite being a Muslim, Buhari expressed joy and called upon the name of Jesus four times following the survival of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in a helicopter crash. The revelation comes as part of Adesina’s reflections on his time working closely with Buhari.
During a subsequent Federal Executive Council meeting, Adesina recounts that Buhari not only publicly rejoiced with the Vice President but also extended congratulations again. In a light-hearted manner, Buhari remarked, “I can imagine that when the chopper crashed with a bang, VP as a pastor must have shouted, Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! And fortunately, Jesus was not far away, so He saved him.” This incident serves as a testament to the camaraderie and shared moments between Buhari and Osinbajo during their time in office.
