FG starts teacher recruitment for ‘Build-A-Thon’ initiative

On Thursday, the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy announced the commencement of the application process for teaching positions within the framework of its Build-A-Thon initiative program.

This initiative, which was officially introduced in December, aims to encourage the early adoption of technology among senior secondary students, as stated by the Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.

Scheduled to take place over four days in January 2024, the program anticipates the participation of 1,500 students hailing from 150 schools across three locations—Owerri, Maiduguri, and Abeokuta. The ministry issued the call for applications from potential educators on Thursday through X.

Emphasizing the qualities sought in prospective candidates, the ministry specified that suitable individuals should be visionary educators, teachers, and enthusiasts capable of guiding the next generation of tech innovators in secondary schools.

Those who are both interested and qualified are encouraged to submit their applications via the program’s official website.

Reflecting on the recent launch of the initiative, Minister Bosun Tijani stated, “The Build-A-Thon initiative is an integral part of our strategic plan to encourage the early adoption of technology, shaping the leaders of innovation for tomorrow.”

He further outlined the overarching objectives of the program, which include showcasing innovative projects, acknowledging achievements, fostering future collaboration, inspiring upcoming leaders, and promoting lifelong learning.
