Two individuals lost their lives while three others sustained injuries in a tragic accident that occurred around 8:24 pm near Ogbere Junction along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway.
According to reports, the deceased was trapped inside one of the vehicles involved in the collision, which was attributed to route violation and excessive speed. The vehicles involved were identified as a DAF truck with the number plate AYE886ZQ and a Volvo truck with the number plate MUS246YH.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists. She revealed that the injured victims were rushed to the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, while one of the deceased was taken to the hospital’s morgue and the other was handed over to the family for burial.
Sector Commander Anthony Uga expressed concern over the prevalence of excessive speeding among motorists, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of speed limits. He reiterated the importance of adhering to road safety regulations and urged drivers to install speed limit devices in their vehicles to help prevent further accidents.
