Ghali Umar Na’abba, former Speaker of the House, dies at 65

Ghali Umar Na’abba, who served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in Nigeria’s 4th Republic, has died at the age of 65. He succumbed to an illness in the early hours of Wednesday, according to DWORLDGIST.

Na’abba, a native of Kano State, was elected to the House of Representatives in 1999. He became the Speaker shortly after the House was inaugurated, following the resignation of his predecessor, Salisu Buhari, who was involved in a certificate forgery scandal.

Na’abba was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) until recently, when he defected to the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
