The scheduled arraignment of Senator Benson Konbowei from Bayelsa Central was postponed on Monday as he was not present in court. The Inspector General of Police had filed a forgery case against the senator, alleging three charges related to the forgery of the National Youth Service Corps exemption certificate, among other offenses.
The charges in the suit, identified as CR/028/2023, accused the senator of unlawfully falsifying a document labeled ‘Certificate of Exemption’ bearing number 000256454 and dated July 4, 2008.
