APC Announces By-Election Schedule, Sets N20m Fee for Senate Nomination

The by-elections for the National and State Houses of Assembly will take place on February 3, 2024, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The by-elections are due to the death or resignation of some members of the legislative bodies. The affected seats are in two Senatorial Districts, four Federal Constituencies, and three State Constituencies across nine States.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has published its timetable and schedule of activities for the by-elections. The timetable was signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Argungu.

The party will start selling nominations, expression of interest and delegates forms for the candidates of the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly from December 27, 2023 to January 2, 2024. The primary elections will be held on January 6, 2024.

The APC has set the fees for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as follows: N20m for the Senate, N10m for the House of Representatives, and N2m for the House of Assembly. However, the party has offered some exemptions and discounts for certain categories of aspirants.

Female aspirants and persons living with disabilities only need to pay for the Expression of Interest, while the Nomination Form is freeYouths from 25 to 40 years can buy the Expression of Interest forms with a 50% discount on the Nomination Forms, the APC said.
