Veteran Nollywood Actor Dejumo Lewis Passes Away at 80

In a somber announcement, it has been confirmed that Dejumo Lewis, a revered figure in Nollywood, has passed away at the age of 80.

The news was conveyed by fellow actor Saidi Balogun through a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday, accompanied by a poignant photo of the late actor.

Balogun, expressing his condolences, wrote, “Good night Dejumo Lewis, may your soul rest in perfect peace, RIP.”

Despite the absence of specific details regarding the cause of Lewis’ passing, the post generated an outpouring of tribute comments from fans and former colleagues, attesting to the impact he had on the entertainment industry.

Dejumo Lewis, a luminary in the Nigerian film and television landscape, gained widespread recognition for his iconic role as Kabiyesi in “The Village Headmaster.”

This television soap opera, which aired on NTA from 1968 to 1988, stands as Nigeria’s longest-running, featuring the late Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson alongside Lewis.

Born in Lagos State, Nigeria, in 1943, Lewis showcased his acting prowess in numerous Nigerian soap operas and movies throughout his illustrious career.
