The Senate Ad-Hoc Committee investigating Nigeria’s refinery maintenance disclosed that the Port Harcourt Refinery would resume operations by the year’s end.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara affirmed his administration’s alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing infrastructural improvements such as the Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road project to enhance access to the refinery and alleviate traffic from the East-West Road.
During a courtesy visit by the Senate Committee, Governor Fubara highlighted the significance of reviving the refinery, anticipating economic benefits, reduced importation reliance, and increased revenue generation, underscoring the importance of governance in enhancing citizens’ welfare.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Chairman of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee, emphasized the committee’s goal of inspecting refinery operations and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, aligning with the government’s initiative to bolster the country’s refinery capabilities and reduce petroleum product importation dependency.
