The arrests reflect the police’s ongoing efforts to address various criminal activities across the state.

The statement indicated, “On 21/11/2023, at approximately 1900hrs, during a routine patrol along Barracks road, Makurdi, the police received information about the presence of one Godspower Oghenerumu, a suspected ritualist involved in cyber fraud (commonly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’), along with his pregnant wife and five associates, who had recently arrived in Makurdi from Delta State and were reportedly engaging in ritualistic activities.

The recovered items from the suspects’ possessions include a locally made barretta pistol, two gas cylinders, one welding cylinder, two welding nozzles, and a Sienna bus, indicating a range of potentially illicit activities and materials in their possession.
