On Tuesday, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, urged President Bola Tinubu to lift the border restrictions and permit the entry of food items into the country as a measure to address the prevailing food crisis. In a statement from Osogbo, Oba Akanbi proposed the importation of grains and construction materials to foster a competitive market and mitigate inflation.
The Oluwo emphasized the immediate necessity of opening borders for a period of at least six months to counteract perceived acts of sabotage by local producers that were negatively impacting the economy.
