The Nigerian Bar Association, through its president Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, has urged President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in response to the widespread insecurity across the nation. Maikyau made this plea during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, emphasizing the urgent need for decisive action.
Highlighting the dire situation, Maikyau stressed the importance of prioritizing security investments aligned with global standards while safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty. He lamented the profound impact of insecurity, including displacement of citizens and the destruction of businesses, which has eroded public trust in the government’s ability to address the crisis.
