The Nigerian Navy (NN) has revealed its upcoming Direct Short Service Commission Course 29 Enlistment Exercise schedule, is now on the go, which kicked on December 27, 2023, to span through May 2024. The details were disclosed in a confidential letter directed to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, dated December 8, 2023, and signed by Rear Admiral IM Albara on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff.
The letter specifically requested the Senate Committee chairman to share this information with members of the legislative committee on Navy and key officials of the House for the benefit of their respective constituencies. Notably, registration for the program will be free and accessible from December 27, 2023, until February 7, 2024.

Candidate Guidelines for Nigerian Navy Recruitment:
- Nigerian citizenship by birth is mandatory for applicants.
- Caution against providing false information or fake certificates, which will result in disqualification and legal action.
- Minimum qualifications required: First-degree holders need a Division, while HND holders require Upper Credit. Computer literacy is advantageous.
- Full registration with Nigerian statutory professional bodies is mandatory.
- Credentials from foreign institutions need authentication by the Federal Ministry of Education; copies of all certificates must be submitted at chosen aptitude test centers.
- Essential: O’level certificates like WAEC (including Mathematics and English) and other relevant exam results.
- NYSC discharge certificate or an exemption letter is mandatory for enlistment.
- Height requirements: Male applicants – minimum 1.68 meters; female applicants – minimum 1.65 meters.
- Age limit: 22 to 28 years by March 25, 2024, except for Medical Officers, who should not exceed 30 years.
- Serving personnel from other services need an attestation letter from their unit heads.
- Qualifying aptitude test details will be communicated via the Nigerian Navy Portal: www.joinnigeriannavy.com
