As we step into the promising landscape of 2024, I extend my warm greetings to every Nigerian. The year behind us, 2023, was marked by transition, showcasing our nation’s resilience in yet another successful democratic handover. It’s a testament to our unwavering commitment to progress over our 24 years of uninterrupted democracy.

Your trust in me and the mandate given to our administration was a call to action, a commitment to elevate our country. My purpose as your President remains rooted in building a Nigeria that cares for all its citizens, a vision echoed in my campaign.

Every decision, every journey abroad, since assuming office, has been driven by our nation’s best interests. Tough choices were made to avert fiscal crises, such as ending decades-old fuel subsidies and restructuring our foreign exchange system for equitable access.

The current economic strains, the high cost of living, and elevated inflation rates have not gone unnoticed. Your concerns, from bustling Lagos streets to the serene Bayelsa creeks, resonate with me deeply.

But let me assure you, dear Nigerians, tough times are transient. Our spirit must endure, unyielding. These challenges should ignite our faith in Nigeria’s promise, urging us to unite for our nation’s greater good.

In the realm of security, though challenges persist, strides have been made in freeing captives. Our efforts continue to secure homes, workplaces, and roads.

Economic recovery efforts laid groundwork last year and now, we’re poised to accelerate progress. Initiatives like the Presidential Power Initiative and ongoing power installations aim to ensure reliable electricity supply. We’re advancing local refining efforts and scaling up agricultural projects for food security.

In 2024, our focus remains on simplifying policies for a conducive business environment. Nigeria stands open and ready for investments. I am resolute in removing obstacles hindering our competitiveness on the global stage.

Our 2024 budget prioritizes defense, job creation, stability, and poverty reduction. We’re committed to ensuring every Nigerian feels the impact of governance. This year, a new national living wage for our hardworking citizens will be implemented.

Accountability is non-negotiable. My administration is dedicated to governance that tangibly improves lives. We’ve set standards for evaluation and efficiency within our ranks.

My aspiration as a public servant has always been a fair and just society, reducing inequality while ensuring equal opportunities for those who work diligently.

But, the onus of building a prosperous Nigeria doesn’t rest solely on leaders but on every citizen. Let’s unite, setting aside differences for our country’s peace, progress, and stability.

To my political opponents, let’s move beyond the elections and collaborate for our nation’s sake. Let our collective light shine brightly, illuminating the path to a brighter future.

Wishing all Nigerians a prosperous 2024.

God bless Nigeria.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCF
