SP Bako Angbashim hailed from the Eggon Tribe of Nasarawa State. He had a remarkable career in the police force, having served as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bori Division and Ahoada Division. He was fearless in confronting the enemies of peace and security, often leading raids on criminal hideouts without even wearing his shoes. He earned a reputation for his bravery and professionalism, and won the respect of his colleagues and the communities he served.


A Tragic End

SP Bako Angbashim met his tragic end on September 8, 2023, while leading a raid on criminal hideouts in Ahoada East Local Government Area. He was engaged in a gunfight with cultists, who were led by the notorious cult kingpin known as 2-Baba (Gift David Okpara Okpolowu).

He was fatally wounded in the exchange of fire, and died shortly after. He was a true law enforcement officer, who gave his life in the line of duty.

The Rivers State Government has placed a N100 million bounty on the head of 2-Baba, the leader of the Iceland Cult gang, who is responsible for violent crimes, kidnapping, and terrorism in the area. The police have made some arrests in connection with the murder, but the mastermind remains elusive.

The public is urged to cooperate with the authorities and provide any information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of 2-Baba and his accomplices. Justice must be served for SP Bako Angbashim and his family.
