The Kogi State Police Command successfully rescued 16 abducted individuals within the state, as reported in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, on Monday.

According to Aya, the rescue operation followed the kidnapping of 11 passengers from a Peace Mass Transit Bus and five others from a Sienna bus along Ette Enugu Ezike Road on February 25, 2024.

A joint team comprising Kogi Police and Military personnel from Enugu State promptly initiated the rescue mission, tracking and safely extracting all victims from the bush unharmed.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects and ensure they face justice, affirmed Aya.

The state Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, praised the collaborative efforts of the security team and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to continue combating criminal activities in the state.
