ICPC chief to meet reporter, launch probe into Togo, Benin degrees
The ICPC’s chairman, Musa Adamu Aliyu, has summoned a meeting at the Abuja office of the Commission with the journalist who uncovered the alleged fake degree racket in some nearby countries.
The ICPC’s press director, Azuka Ogugua, who signed a statement, said that the purpose of the meeting was to talk about the report that the journalist published on December 30 about the alleged corruption at a university in Cotonou.
The statement said that the meeting was intended to deepen the probe and take appropriate actions against those involved in the certificate scam.

DWORLDGIST revealed that the probe into Ecole Supérieure de Gestion et de Technologies, ESGT, in Cotonou exposed a worrisome situation where degrees are allegedly given in as short as six weeks, without following standard academic processes like application, registration, coursework, and exams.
The ICPC said that it is launching a comprehensive investigation in response to these serious accusations.
The Commission said that “the investigation will thoroughly scrutinize the networks and individuals involved in these wrongdoings, with the aim of restoring and protecting the quality of our education system.”
The Commission said that it will work together with relevant local and international agencies to jointly assess the validity of academic credentials obtained from foreign institutions, especially those mentioned in the investigative report.
The ICPC then urged all stakeholders in the education and government sectors to cooperate in this important task.
“Together, we can strive for a future where the reliability of our educational credentials is beyond doubt, and where corruption has no place,” the Commission said.
