Exclusive: In Kaduna, a Nigerian police inspector fatally shoots a colleague and then sells the rifle to terrorists for N300,000
The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended an Inspector from the 62 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, on charges of murdering a fellow officer.
The Inspector, whose identity is currently unknown to SaharaReporters, is accused of not only taking the deceased officer’s firearm but also selling it to local terrorists, commonly referred to as bandits, for the sum of N300,000.
A source within the police force, who shared a video with SaharaReporters on Saturday depicting the Inspector accused of the killing in handcuffs and leg restraints, expressed deep concern about the distressing incident.
While acknowledging relief that the alleged perpetrator was brought to light, the police source emphasized the need for enhanced accountability within the police force.
In a video lasting one minute and 30 seconds, obtained by SaharaReporters, voices of some police officers were audible, referring to the accused Inspector as “the most wicked soul.” This underscores the severity of the situation and the impact it has had on those within the police community.
Meanwhile, there are additional individuals seen in the video alongside the Inspector, but SaharaReporters could not promptly confirm whether they were the alleged recipients of the rifle he purportedly sold to bandits.
A message accompanying the video stated, “An Inspector from 62 PMF Kafanchan, Kaduna, killed his colleague, seized his firearm, and traded it to bandits for 300k. God has exposed him and his accomplices.”
Despite attempts by SaharaReporters to reach out to the Force Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, for comments on the incident, these efforts were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls at the time of compiling this report. This adds a layer of uncertainty to the unfolding situation.
